Marketing department focuses on export development and promotion of spices. Emphasis is being given for implementing Export Development and Promotion’ programmes intend to support the exporters to meet the changing food safety standards in the importing countries. The major thrust areas of the Marketing Department are trade promotion, product development and research, infrastructure development, promotion of Indian spice brands abroad, and setting up of infrastructure for common cleaning, grading, processing, packing and storing (Spices Park) in major spice growing/marketing centres, promotion of organic spices/GI spices, organizing buyer seller meets, etc. The Marketing programmes are implemented through the office network of the Board under Marketing Division consisting of Regional Offices and Spice Parks. Apart from this, the department provides Entrepreneurship Development programmes for the new Entrepreneurs to set up new export units which cater to international quality food business.

The activities of Spices Board viz registration/licencing of exporters/dealers/auctioneers are dealt with by the marketing department. Activities related to E-auction/Manual auction of cardamoms are also dealt with by the marketing department. Further, under the provisions of the Spices Board Act, 1986 and Spices Board (Registration of Exporters) Regulations 1989, Spices Board is undertaking Mandatory Sampling & Testing of export consignments of selected spices and spice products to selected destinations based on the requirement of importing countries which is also entrusted with the Marketing Department.
