Sustainability in Spice Sector through Progressive, Innovative and Collaborative Interventions for Export Development (SPICED)

   Spices Board scheme (EFC proposal) titled ‘Sustainability in Spice Sector through Progressive, Innovative and Collaborative Interventions for Export Development (SPICED)’ has been approved by the Ministry for implementation during the remaining period of Fifteenth Finance Commission Cycle, up to 2025-26. The scheme is designed to expand area and improve productivity of Cardamom (small & large), generate an exportable surplus of quality spices through post-harvest improvement, export promotion of spices, increasing the share of value-added spices in the export basket, evaluating compliance of export consignments with applicable standards of quality and safety, capacity building & skill development of stakeholders etc. Guidelines for implementation of the SPICED scheme is placed below

Modalities / Guidelines for implementation of “ Sustainability in Spice Sector through Progressive, Innovative and Collaborative Interventions for Export Development (SPICED)”

Implementation of the various components/ programmes under the SPICED scheme will be through online mode, through the links provided below. The submission of application will start from 20 September 2024. All the exporters, farmers, FPOs and other stakeholders of the spices sector are requested to peruse the guidelines before submitting the online application.

Export Development and Promotion Programs

For availing assistance under various Export Development and Promotion programs, stakeholders may apply using the GMS - Exporters Module

Development Programs

  1. For availing assistance under development programs such as :
  1. QGBG - Setting up of Post-Harvest Machines;
  2. Seed Spice Thresher
  3. Pepper Thresher
  4. Turmeric Boiler
  5. Spices Polishers
  6. Mint Distillation Units
  7. Establishment of Plot for GAP
  8. FPO/QGBG - Processing and Value Addition

The farmers / FPOs may apply using the Service Plus module

  1. Spices Board Regional / Divisional / Field office will assist the stakeholder in submitting the applications, for availing assistance under the following programs ;
  1. Improving productivity of small and large cardamom
  2. Post-harvest improvement and quality upgradation of spices
  1. Spice cleaner grader, spice washing equipment, spice slicing machine, spice dehullers, spice driers, improved curing devices for small and large cardamom, large cardamom driers,
  2. Promoting exportable surplus of GI and other spices from NE, organic certification, on-farm production of composts, assistance for ICS groups and care & cure centres for FPO.
