Spices Park - Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu
The Spices Park at Sivaganga is aimed at setting up of infrastructure and processing facilities for the Spices like Turmeric & Chilly. Government of Tamil Nadu has allotted 29.43 Ha of land in Kottagudi village of Sivaganga Taluk to the Board for establishing the Spices Park project. The entire infrastructure like wide road, drain, compound wall, Time House, overhead water tank, weighing bridge, canteen, warehousing etc has been established in addition to the processing facility for Chilly & Turmeric and Steam Sterilization system. The objective of park is to educate farmers on the cultivation and facilities available at park, propagating the entrepreneurs for start-ups and explore possibility of international tie ups and foreign investment.
The Spices Park project is scheduled in phased manner. The first phase of the project has been completed with an estimated cost of Rs.18.50 crore. Currently the Park is ready to commence its operation. The Board is in the process of commencing the Operation of the Spices Park and associating the entrepreneurs for setting up their own processing facilities in the Park .

The Board had established all basic common infrastructure facilities in the Park in addition to the processing facilities for the Spices like Chilli and Turmeric. The details of the common infrastructure and processing facilities established in the park are as follows

Association with Private Entrepreneurs
As part of the commitment to encourage the local trading community to Spice export business, the Board had developed plots in the park to lease out to the private entrepreneurs in that locality to establish price processing unit and their by encourage them to Spice export. In Spices Park at Sivaganga separate area is demarcated for this purpose. The Board has divided the total area of 39.450 acres into 36 plots, out of which 19 plots have been allotted to 16 entrepreneurs for establishment of private processing units. Currently, the Board had obtained all the statuary licenses for commencing the construction of the processing units by the plot owners. The Board has also initiated steps to encourage the plot owners to commence the construction their units so as to complete the process by end of the current financial year. Current Status
The establishment of the Spices Park project is completed. The Board is in the process of allotting the remaining land in the Park to the new entrepreneurs for establishing the Spice processing units in the Park.

The entire statutory clearance for establishing the Spice processing units in Spices Park by the Plot owners are obtained and thereby directed the plot owners to commence the construction of the processing units so as to complete it on a time bound manner. The Board is also completed the process for obtaining the approval from DTCP to operate the common processing facilities established by the Board and expected that the DTCP approval will obtain shortly. Accordingly, the Board is in the process of identifying a suitable operator for operating the processing facilities established by the Board.
