KERA
The Spices Board of India has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kerala government to collaborate on the Kerala Climate Resilient Agri-Value Chain Modernization (KERA) Project. This initiative aims to enhance the resilience and sustainability of Kerala's agricultural sector, with a particular focus on small and marginal Cardamom growers of Idukki district. The project will be implemented with assistance from World bank .The major activities proposed under the roject are Induction training for senior and junior staff from Kerala state Department of Agriculture and Commerce & Industry and Spices Board , Sensitization of 22,000 small and marginal-sized cardamom growers through basic training on recommended practices for replanting, training of 7,000 Cardamom growers on climate resilient varieties and Good agricultural practices, training for key staff of the implementing partners, supporting the replanting of 3,500 ha, supporting 30 farmer groups for GAP certification, facilitating credit support to growers for on farm investments.
